The truth is it depends which ones will allow you to connect with your current and new customers the best and most frequently.

Direct Sales by nature has always been social. Social Media is the modern way of running a party planning or home based business. From the beginning of time, the party planning model has always been about referrals. It was always done in the comfort of one’s home. In 2012, people are much busier, however whether knocking on a door or leaving a Facebook message, direct sellers understand how important building relationships and personal referrals are to their business. Whether corporate executives want to agree or not that Social Media plays a huge roll in marketing for direct sellers, they can not disagree that over 1 billion people are increasing their amount of time on social media platforms. If you are a direct seller, you need to understand what this number means and how to do exactly what is done in someone’s home, in their digital home as well. This means building relationships on Facebook, Twitter, You Tube and Pinterest.

If a Direct Seller goes into a host’s home and rolls out the red carpet. If they go above and beyond, this does not go unrecognized. The host will tell all of his or her friends. Social Media works the same way. A single Pinterest pin can reach hundreds of people every single day. A happy or even unhappy Twitter post can reach thousands. The only difference is Face to Face or in person. Some think it is sad that the party planning industry is becoming less Face to Face but if done correctly Social Media can be just as up close and personal as being in one’s actual home. The Party Planner and/or Direct Sales business model is not replaced, it is enhanced. Business owners can broaden their viewer base and open up to a larger clientele than ever before. So long are the days when riding past a billboard sign was a popular way of advertising. Pinterest is the fastest growing site on the Internet. Mostly made up of women, users can pin their most wanted ideas or wish lists to a board. These boards can be viewed to the public, making it easy for businesses to see what the growing trends are. Since many Pinterest users have their accounts connected to Facebook, this opens up a great way to communicate directly to the prospective customer.

Businesses can befriend social media users who fit the demographics of their potential customers. This makes it easy to direct sales straight to the source and not worry about how to reach a certain demographic. Additionally, the advertising on social media sites like Facebook provides businesses reoccurring advertising when friends tell others about their experience. When a customer has a great experience with a company, they are likely to tell their friends and family about it. This is something that will continue as long as the business is open. This makes social media sites like Facebook, Pinterest, Google+ and many more well worth advertising on. The advertising reaches far greater than a billboard, newspaper, or radio announcement.

We all know that there isn’t anything that can replace the relationship that is built when you spend time with your customers, but Social Media comes very close as in this day more than not would rather connect using Social Media. Direct Sellers can and should use the platforms that market the best with their product or service. Use it to do what it does best…socialize. Not just sell but connect. Build last relationships. Small town feel even with a much broader customer based. Treat every customer on line just as you would in person and give them a reason to visit your home online every day.
