Users can find your items and pin them to their Pinterest boards and often times this will lead to clicks to your website and encourage future purchases by the user. Not only that, their followers will see the item(s) that they pinned and perhaps will re-pin them to their own boards. This is a great opportunity for online visibility.

First and foremost, take the time to set up your account properly. If you can try to always use your name to set up your account. Cute names are just that, cute. But safe yourself the trouble of having to start over if something happens. Use your name and you can market anything you want at any time.

Be sure to set up your account as a business account. This is fairly straight forward through Pinterest but you may someone who is a bit tech savvy to help.

Use keywords in any description area. From your bio to each board. This will help people find you easily.

Make sure your first 3 rows of boards reflect your business, values, products and services. Then create boards which reflect the message that your personal branding is trying to put out there. Before you pin, be sure that the source leading to that pin is legitimate. If you have a ton of pins that lead to no where or bad sites, it will reflect your Pinterest rankings.

If you are creating your own graphics or content, be sure to add a watermark. This will keep your work connected to your website and brand.

Everything you do should be strategic. Follow tons of people who are posting content that is of value to you. Once you start repinning their content, you will easily start building your community.

Repin daily across many of your boards. Have fun with your board names but remember that your board titles and descriptions are searchable on Pinterest, so you need to keep in mind what your ideal client may be searching for. Keep your boards simple and people will keep coming back to find content they find valuable.

No pin dumping. The feed is slower on Pinterest. If you repin 500 pins within seconds of each other, you will most likely annoy your followers. We don’t need to see 120 avocado recipes in the feed at once. Pins will remain in the feed for a few days or even longer. Pin every couple of minutes and space things out.

You must produce your own visual content. If you create content that is visually engaging and that people will want to share, you will be seen. Remember 80% of all pins are REPINS so you must create your own goods that people will love. This is now really simple with tools like Picmonkey and Canva.
